Mechanical construction of MicroLas machines is dictated by ultimate requirements on cutting speed and motion accuracy. The gantry is dually driven via racks and preloaded split pinions with mechanical backlash elimination. CONTROL TECHNIQUES DC motors via precise planetary gearboxes develop motion. Position is measured by rotary incremental encoders mounted on motor shafts.
Backlash-free linear guides with their high load capacity and long service life guarantee that the machine can hold out against static and dynamic stresses it is subjected to. All power cables and gas hoses moving with the gantry are placed in a flexible segmental cable duct, which protects the cabling against excessive bending and wear.
MicroLas machines can be delivered with a rotary positioner for cutting pipes and other cylindrical pieces either in cross or longitudinal direction. Pipes are fixed by chuck and supported in several points to keep movement concentricity. Different types of positioning units for pipe cutting are available depending on desired pipe diameters, lengths and total weight. The whole table is very stable and separated from the guides and drives. The grid manipulator provides cut material exchange that automatically changes grid in work zone and material manipulation zone.
